Hull City On Film is a film photography project by David Jones. Created in 2023 with a focus on Hull City matchdays, capturing fan culture and match action.

I started following the club in 1999 when I was nine years old. I’d seen a packed KC Stadium vs Swansea, attended celebrations following promotion, Wembley wins and facing European opponents. I’d never documented it despite my love of photography. Hull City On Film combines my love of film photography and Hull City into my own personal archive that I can share with fans along the way.

I always had a camera in my hand from a young age and when studying photography in college I found a love for film photography. From the imperfections, the development and all the other intricacies that follow it as a practice. I find I’m a lot more selective with what I shoot due to the restrictions of a roll of film and this is why I prefer shooting with film as opposed to digital. The unpredictability is something so unique in my opinion.

Absolutely. I tend to have a pre-match pint down Princes Avenue and usually get to the ground an hour before kick-off. If you see me with my camera I’m more than happy to get a photo for you which I will then share once developed.
